Confessionalism or Memoir The Poetry of Anne Sexton, Sylvia Plath, Essay
Confessionalism or Memoir The Poetry of Anne Sexton, Sylvia Plath, Robert Lowell, and Billy Collins - Essay Example The routine is fine for the spouse, however the wife feels there could be more to life. The spouse thinks: In spite of the fact that she cherishes her significant other, the spouse wishes it could be extraordinary. The spouse even wishes her significant other would leave, become an artist, or even pass on to make her life extraordinary. The hardship of an American farmerââ¬â¢s spouse is clear. The difficult work, absence of thankfulness, and desire for conjugal obligation is plainly making the spouse depleted. The American farmerââ¬â¢s spouse is regularly segregated on sections of land and sections of land of land. This disengagement breeds the malevolence that the spouse wanted for the husband. The little girl at that point proceeds to contrast her dad with a Nazi. She can never satisfy him. The girl even needed to execute her dad. He kicked the bucket before she could, yet she pondered it. The absence of correspondence because of various dialects is an unmistakable American attribute. This is another American characteristic of depicting the hardship of American life on the bank of Nantucket. The need of angling and taking a shot at the ocean is differentiated by the hazard and demise caused. The Quakers think everything is in Godââ¬â¢s will. In this way the passings brought about by the ocean were supernaturally appointed. The religion is likewise a major piece of American life. Billy Collins utilizes the main individual in a significant number of his sonnets. In spite of the fact that the principal individual isn't utilized in ââ¬Å"Winter Syntaxâ⬠, a solitary man is depicted on an excursion. The excursion is portrayed by freezing chilly, the desert heat, lastly as ââ¬Å"shivering, hung in shining ice, a grin will show up in the facial hair of iciclesâ⬠(Collins). Yale Applicant
Yale Applicant March 1, 2012 YouTube music videos arent always the best supplemental material in college admissions. Be mindful of what is included in these videos should you choose to post one! Each and every year, students post videos on YouTube in the hope that itll help their case for admission to the college(s) of their dreams. Sometimes, the videos get quite a bit of traction online, though its the exception to the rule when such a video leads an admissions committee to change a denial into an admission. Remember Grace Oberhofer? She didnt end up getting into Harvard, in spite of all of the hits to her YouTube video in which she sings to implore Harvard admissions officers to admit her. This year, Yale applicant Jackie Milestone has given the YouTube music video a try as she tries to turn her Early Decision deferral into a Regular Decision greenlight. The daughter of an alumnus, Jackie has dreamed of attending Yale since childhood. In the video, she wears about a dozen Yale t-shirts and amusingly strips each one off (except the last). Her singing and lyrics are actually quite good (better than Graces for sure) and shes definitely got some spunk to her. In a funny moment of the video, she called a local pizza place in New Haven to see if theyd deliver to her Philadelphia home. They wouldnt. Will this video that has attracted almost 12,000 hits already lead Yale admissions officers to admit her? Probably not. The video shows that shes wealthy. Her bed is a king! And its a water bed. Her room is very nice as is the rest of her house. If anything, the video shows that shes wealthy and privileged. A Yale admissions officer isnt going to go to advocate for someone who sleeps in a nicer bed than he or she does. The fact is that many applicants do.Ã Take this lesson from Jackie Milestone. Also, one should definitely be proactive if deferred. And be strategic. Maybe she could have left out the fancy bedroom with the huge bed in the video after all!

The Workers Of The United States - 1281 Words
Laborers in the United States will lose their occupation, as their work is moved to alternative areas around the world. In July, for instance, Wachovia Corporation declared arrangements to move a large number of its data innovation (IT) occupations to India and told its 3,000 U.S. IT laborers to plan for lay-offs. The suspicion is that these going to-be dislodged laborers will be re-employed quickly, and at significantly the same wages. The information on reemployment results are constrained, however citizens can get a sign from the Bureau of Labor Statistics Displaced Workers Survey (2004). The overview demonstrates that, of specialists who were dislodged somewhere around 2001 and 2003, 35 percent were still unemployed in January 2004,â⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦economy has been bizarrely low. U.S. electrical and hardware engineers and PC researchers experienced more elevated amounts of unemployment in the previous four years than amid whatever other four-year period since 1972. In 2003, surprisingly, the unemployment rate for electrical and gadgets engineers (6.2 percent) surpassed the national unemployment rate (6 percent). To place this in authentic viewpoint, all through the entire decade of the 1980s, unemployment among electrical and hardware builds never transcended 2 percent, in spite of national unemployment rates that topped at 9.7 percent. Numerous components, for example, the information transfers bust, have added to the slack business sector for electrical and hardware engineers. What s more, specialists who are unemployed for a broadened timeframe may confront higher weights than the normal U.S. laborer. On the off chance that it s actual that the half-existence of a specialist is three to five years, engineers who are out of labor for a year or more hazard losing forefront aptitudes a great deal more quickly than dislodged specialists in different occupations. The second impact of offshoring anticipated by financial experts is an adjustment in the blend of U.S. occupations, as a few employments move to more effective (lower expense) abroad areas. As few segments are lost, the United States will work in parts in which it has a similar point of interest. In any
Dresden, a city lost Essay Example For Students
Dresden, a city lost Essay Dresden: A City LostDresden was once called, Florence on the Elbe, before the widespread destruction sustained during the war and was numbered among the most beautiful cities in the world, noted for its architecture and great art treasures. On the eve of February 13, 1945, phosphorus and high explosive bombs devastated the city. Everyone was convinced, that there would be no attack here. (Owings, 191) Dresden was of no means a principal military point, furthermore, the majority of its inhabitants actually believed that they would endure the war unharmed. Initially, the alleged reasoning for Dresden being bombed seemed to be related with the operation known as Thunderclap. Dresden was only one of the casualties affiliated with this the operation. This operation was instigated to reduce German civilian morale. According to a secret report dated, August 02, 1944, the rudimentary principles of the maneuver, Thunderclap was that an attack must be delivered in such density that it imposes as nearly as possible a hundred percent risk of death to the individual in the area to which it is applied. (Was the Bombing of Dresden Justifiable, 7) Collectively, between 35,000 to 135,000 human beings are estimated to have lost their lives. The report stated further, the total weight of the attack must be such as to produce an effect amounting to a national disasterthe target chosen should be one involving the maximum associations, both traditional and personal, for the whole population. (Was the Bombing of Dresden Justifiable, 7) Furthermore, The are a selected should embrace the highest density of population. (Was the Bombing of Dresden Justifiable, 7) Dresden was Germanys seventh largest city, in addition, by February 1945 refugees fleeing westward before the advancing Soviet military forces had doubled Dresdens population. An additional supposed purpose of the utter devastation of this capital of Saxony on the Elbe River was that apparently German troops were going through Dresden to fight the Red army. Therefore, the USSR requested the British and Americans to commence a bombing assault on Dresden to hinder the German troops besides there is hardly any evidence to show this migration of troops to the Eastern Front. It was stated in 1953 by a German newspaper, Suddeutsche Zeitung that, The explanation of the Americans that Dresden was bombed, on Soviet instructions, to hinder the movement of troop reinforcements through Dresden, is a clear contradiction of the facts. It would have been simple for the RAF to have destroyed the railway between Dresden and the Czech frontier. (Was the Bombing of Dresden Justifiable, 5) Although, according to David Irving, the writer of The Destruction of Dresden, the Russians deny this. (Was the Bombing of Dresden Justifiable, 5) Ultimately the perpetrating reason behind the mass destruction of this city that was originally a Slavic settlement called Drezdane conclusively devastated its inhabitants. When the waves of attacks arrived there was no escape. Over thirteen hundred British and U.S. bombers dropped more than three thousand tons of high explosive bombs and incendiaries which started a firestorm. Any living being caught outdoors was incinerated. Many of the people in cellars suffocated, then burned. Temperatures soared as high as one thousand eight hundred degrees Fahrenheit. Low flying planes machine-gunned the fleeing population along the banks of the Elbe River. The exact number of casualties will never be known. A total of twenty seven thousand houses and seven thousand public buildings were destroyed. The following excerpt is from an article by Robert L. Koenig who submits a comparison between tragedies suffered by Dresden and by Hiroshima. The article states that, The firebombing of Dresden was the most intense of the European war, killing somewhere between 35,000 and 135,000 people-a number impossible to confirm because so many bodies were burned without being counted or identified. By comparison, the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima killed at least 80,000 Japanesewhich helped end the war against Japan, the firebombing of Dresden had little, if any, military significance in ending the war in Europe. The main target of the allied bombers was Dresdens historic central city and rail yards, rather than the industries and military encampments elsewhere in Dresden. (Koenig, 1)Prisoners of war from many lands came together that morning at such and such a place in Dresden.(Vonnegut, 213) A POW, Thomas Jones, who had worked on the cleanup of th e ruined city recalled, There must have been a couple hundred tiny babies, all dead, in a pile ten feet highpeople would still be sitting there dead, on benches, weeks after the bombing. Wed drag bodies into the streets, pile them up by the hundreds, pour gas on them, and burn them up. Nobody was counting. (Koenig, 3)In conclusion, it is incomprehensible whether or not the rationalization for the horrendous actions collating with the bombing of Dresden or any city is thoroughly justifiable in a moment of war. A statement by Robert Saunby, the chief aide of Sir Arthur Harris, the commander-in-chief of the Royal Air Force Bomber Command, in 1963, expressed some doubts of the bombing of Dresden. His statement is as follows; the bombing of Dresden was a great tragedy none can denyit was one of those terrible things that sometimes happen in wartime, brought about by an unfortunate combination of circumstances. .u38152c5cfacc8d95d0db8bf555b7f8e1 , .u38152c5cfacc8d95d0db8bf555b7f8e1 .postImageUrl , .u38152c5cfacc8d95d0db8bf555b7f8e1 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u38152c5cfacc8d95d0db8bf555b7f8e1 , .u38152c5cfacc8d95d0db8bf555b7f8e1:hover , .u38152c5cfacc8d95d0db8bf555b7f8e1:visited , .u38152c5cfacc8d95d0db8bf555b7f8e1:active { border:0!important; } .u38152c5cfacc8d95d0db8bf555b7f8e1 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u38152c5cfacc8d95d0db8bf555b7f8e1 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u38152c5cfacc8d95d0db8bf555b7f8e1:active , .u38152c5cfacc8d95d0db8bf555b7f8e1:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u38152c5cfacc8d95d0db8bf555b7f8e1 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u38152c5cfacc8d95d0db8bf555b7f8e1 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u38152c5cfacc8d95d0db8bf555b7f8e1 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u38152c5cfacc8d95d0db8bf555b7f8e1 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u38152c5cfacc8d95d0db8bf555b7f8e1:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u38152c5cfacc8d95d0db8bf555b7f8e1 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u38152c5cfacc8d95d0db8bf555b7f8e1 .u38152c5cfacc8d95d0db8bf555b7f8e1-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u38152c5cfacc8d95d0db8bf555b7f8e1:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Eutahnasia Essay

Calin Rusu Confidentiality and Data protection Act (1998) are very important legislations for a teacher being linked to the Domains A and E from LLUK standards. Learners expect us to respect and protect confidentiality. This duty extends to any information relating to a learner which we acquire in the course of our work. Confidential information includes personal details. ââ¬Å"Confidentiality can be defined as when one person receives personal or sensitive information from another person, then that person who receives the information has a duty not to pass it on to any other person without the consent of the person who confided in them. The main intent is to protect individuals against misuse or abuse of information about them. â⬠Calin Rusu Equality and Diversity Act (2010) is another important legislation which is linked to every LLUK standard. In my opinion, knowing and understanding the Equality and Diversity Act is crucial for me as a teacher in order to assess every learners needs and to meet these needs. It is not easy to treat all my students equally, especially if they are different nationalities, different races, different backgrounds and maybe with disabilities. But, with the initial assessment rrrr,,,, and choosing the right learning strategies and resources Iââ¬â¢m sure Iââ¬â¢ll be able to meet every learners needs. In order to succeed in meeting all my learnersââ¬â¢ needs, Iââ¬â¢ll use group tasks; Iââ¬â¢ll differentiate them according to their level of knowledge, their learning styles, and by their disability if this is applicable without letting them feel discriminated. Disability Act (2010) refers to those people whom got a medical condition that requires special attention and extra care and helps us, as teachers to treat them equally and not let them feel excluded, this Act can be linked to A, B and F Domains from LLUK standards. If in my course of work Iââ¬â¢ll have to deal with a disabled learner Iââ¬â¢ll try to plan the session according www,,, to this and prepare for him appropriate tasks. Iââ¬â¢ll try to widen my knowledge about his/her disability to know better his/her needs and what teaching strategies do I have to use for him/her to achieve. Another important legislation which can be linked to A, B and F Domains of the LLUK standards is Discrimination Act (2010) which explains how I, as a teacher must treat everybody equally no matter what their sex is, religion, race, age or sex orientation. Health and Safety Act (1974) and Management of Health and Safety Regulations (1999) are two of the most important pieces in Health and Safety legislation being linked to all LLUK standards Domains. Free Essays on Argument Against Abortion
Reflection Paper ââ¬â Abortion The word abortion by definition means the induced expulsion of a fetus from the womb before it is able to survive independently. Abortion is an extremely controversial issue because while some people are completely against it, others believe that a woman should have the right to choose. I believe that abortion is morally and ethically wrong. In my opinion, when a woman chooses to have sex, she is taking a chance. She does this of her own free will, and is in control over what she is doing. If a person decides to have sex, whether it is done with protection or not, the result is her responsibility and she must be willing to deal with the consequences. One such consequence is getting pregnant. When a woman gets pregnant, it is usually a result of her own choices, even if the pregnancy is unwanted or unplanned. The most obvious reason why I think that abortion is immoral is because it is the intentional killing of a human being. It is a well-known fact that life begins at the moment of conception. If it is murder to kill a human being in any stage of life, then abortion, the murder of the fetus, is obviously wrong, because murder is one of the ethical absolutes. When we perform an abortion, we take the life of an innocent child. We deny the unborn child its right to live and experience the world. No one has thee right to take the life of another person, even an unborn child. Furthermore, abortion denies the mother the joy and opportunity to raise the baby, and in the long run, usually ends up hurting the mother as the emotional effects become worse and worse. This problem is even more common when there is pressure by others on the woman to have the abortion, and she does so reluctantly. Another reason why I do not believe abortions should be done is because of the many risks involved for the woman undergoing the abortion. The risks involved are both medical and emotional. Persuasive speech on dangers of texting and driving or Presentation
Persuasive on dangers of texting and driving - Speech or Presentation Example Some major accidents that happen result from things that could be avoided and therefore, there is a need to tighten the surveillance of observance of the rules and regulations in driving along busy roads. Research have shown that one of the major causes of roads accidents is texting while driving because it carries away the attention of a driver to the things he or she may be exchanging with another person and may result to knocking over other vehicles or pedestrian or even losing the way. In this speech, I will address the areas of; dangers of the texting while driving, impacts of texting while driving and ways through which people can avoid the problem. This will serve the purpose of persuading drivers to avoid texting while driving and encourage passengers to discourage drivers from texting while driving. Dangers of texting while driving In many cases where road accidents occur, they result from distraction that result from different things that come from within the driver or outs ide the vehicle but which occupy the mind of the driver. Of the distractions that happen, many of them result from the different internal distraction, meaning that drivers have a role to play in their cause and their happening within a vehicle. Many distractions, for example, result from texting from mobile devices, which drivers hold conveniently while they are still driving their vehicles on roads. For this reason, texting exposes the drivers and other passengers to various dangers that risk their lives because they trigger different emotions in drivers causing them serious distractions in their minds. This happens because in the course of typing, reading or sending a message, the concentration of the driver shifts from driving to the mobile device that he uses so that they respond slowly to events that happen on the road (Kemper, 2013). Texting reduces the steering capabilities of a driver by large degree because they no longer concentrate on the road but focus on the mobile devi ce they use to exchange messages. This danger is realized because drivers look at the texting device rather that the road on which they are driving and this means that they never recognize road signs that guide their driving. In this case, drivers realize some things or pedestrians on the road when they are very close to them and this makes it difficult to avoid them and they run over them. This distraction is one of the things that drivers could avoid and there would be few accidents on the roads but they are fail to avoid the causes of the accidents but try to avoid the accidents themselves (Plotnik & Kouyoumjian, 2011). When a driver is reading a text, it is likely to take him or her about five seconds which is quite a long time considering the fact that a vehicle could be driving at a very high speed. The kind of danger to which a driver exposes himself or herself and others is comparable to that one of a blind person driving at a high speed in a busy road and assuming that he o r she will be safe on the road on which he or she is driving. This means that a driver who takes that risk causes unnecessary danger to the people near him or those with him and this can be avoided if he or she can fail to attend to the text message (Mertens & Wilson, 2012). Another danger of texting and driving is that it does not cause only one form of distraction but rather more than one because it influences the visual, manual and the cognitive performance of a driver. This means that it does not

Interim Report for an action research Assignment
Interim Report for an action research - Assignment Example How does learning Arabic impact their education and life outcomes? The third purpose of the action research has to do with the ways that I can personally improve the process of teaching Arabic as a second language to students who are not native speakers of Arabic. The key data observation method is observation from the field, with my classroom as the field of observation, and my students and myself as the subjects of the study, relative to the learning and teaching of Arabic as a second language to non-native speakers. From the observations with another teacher of the Arabic language, Qassem, I am able to find out that there are several shortcomings at present with regard to the way we teach Arabic as a second language. These shortcomings are not failures in themselves, but are areas for improvement, derived from daily experience. These observations have led me to craft a new teaching method that I will call ââ¬Å"correct meâ⬠. The details of that new and evolving teaching technique follow in the next section. The new technique hopefully is able to cover Arabic language learning in its various aspects: reading, speaking, writing and listening. The ââ¬Å"Correct Meâ⬠teaching method is straightforward, but involves a keen interest in student learning, and an alert presence. At the heart of it is an intent listening and a willingness to give oneself to the students so that they may learn. This technique has two aspects. One aspect involves me making real-time corrections to student mistakes in speaking and writing Arabic. The technique involves an alert presence so that the teacher is able to spot mistakes. The second aspect involves students forming groups, and being present to one another as they converse and write in Arabic, correcting their peers as they make mistakes. For feedback, my intention is to survey students at the end of a class to find out how they find this new teaching technique: if they like it, if they are benefitting from it, and what

The Madding crowd Essay Example for Free
The Madding crowd Essay Although he appears reserved, Bathshebas maid Liddy warns her mistress that the insincere Valentine will worry him to death. Perhaps this is because it is common knowledge that a distant relative of Boldwoods went mad and subsequently Boldwood cannot take things lightly. Boldwood has no real passionate feelings for Bathsheba before she sends him the Valentine, but when he receives the declaration of Bathshebas love, it sparks off the beginning of an intense obsession. Boldwood struggles to cope with the extreme emotions that sweep over him; his sheltered childhood in a society where different sexes were kept apart, means he is completely unprepared to deal with his obsession logically. He describes his feelings towards Bathsheba as being as strong as death. He neglects his farm, which had once been his priority and does not appear to be affected by the money he is loosing and the staff he will have to dismiss. Boldwood sees Troys death as an opportunity to have Bathsheba for himself. He plays on her guilt by reminding her of how she had led him on, and pressures her into promising to marry him six years after Troys death. When Troy reappears to everyones astonishment, Boldwood cannot handle the shock and is dismayed at the thought of loosing Bathsheba once more. Acting out of desperation, Boldwood kills Troy and attempts suicide. He is sentenced to life imprisonment and left unbalanced, in despair and completely dysfunctional. Although his obsession drove him to kill another man, Boldwood is the victim who suffers the most from an obsession that has ruined his life. Comparable to Bathsheba, Sergeant Francis Troys main obsession is with himself. His callus and egotistical nature make him constantly determined to get his own way. Yet he is often not content when he gets what he is after and it seldom takes him long to set his mind towards striving for something else. However, this can sometimes lead to the beginning of another obsession. His pride causes him to overreact when Fanny confuses the church where the couple are supposed to be married. This is purely because of the humiliation she has caused him. Whereas most people would forgive someone easily for such an innocent mistake, Troy is so offended and shamed that he cannot bear to risk his reputation once more, even if it is for someone he loves. He turns his attention to Bathsheba as he thinks it is unlikely she will publicly humiliate him. The full extent of his shallow nature is revealed when Troy is married to Bathsheba but treats some of his servants with more respect than her. He abandons Bathsheba under the false pretence of drowning without taking her feelings into consideration and then returns to the farm oblivious of the pain he has caused. If he had not left Bathsheba for so long and been so untruthful towards her, it is unlikely Boldwood would have reacted in the way he did and Troy would probably have survived. Fanny Robin is a relatively minor character in the novel, however she is involved in a complex subplot involving Troy. She was deeply in love with him to the point of obsession. In spite of the mistake she made in confusing the church where she and Troy were due to be wed, Fanny was determined to be with Troy. She arranged to meet him once more in a place of his choice, far away and difficult for Fanny to reach. She attempted the lengthy journey on foot but eventually her steps became feebler and it was clearly impossible for her to reach her goal. Her resolution to be with Troy was indubitably strong but the exhaustion and fatigue she felt was ultimately stronger. Willing and ready to be with Troy even if it killed her, a few of Fannys last words were, If I could only get there! Perhaps I shall be in my grave before then. Tragically, the next time Troy set eyes on Fanny she was, indeed, in her coffin. Therefore it is fair to say that obsession killed Fanny Robin. An obsession can take over a persons every waking thought; it can drive them and people around them to despair and can even cause them to kill another or themselves by simply trying to fulfil that obsession. These things happened in varying degrees of seriousness to every character in Far From the Madding Crowd which therefore suggests obsession is a key feature of the Novel. The variety of obsessions in the novel highlights the many different forms in which people can be obsessed.

The Crucible by Arthur Miller Essay -- Essay on The Crucible
The Crucible was based in 1692 in and around the town of Salem, Massachusetts, USA. The Salem witch-hunt was view as one of the strangest and most horrendous chapters in the human history. People that were prosecuted were all innocent and their deaths were all due to false accusation of peopleââ¬â¢s ridiculous belief in superstition and their paranoia. The Puritans in those times were very strict in personal habits and morality; swearing, drunkenness and gambling would be punished. The people of Salem believed in the devil and thought that witchcraft should be hunted out. The play can be seen as a general statement on the effects that fear and fanaticism can have on human beings and how one person can cause such catastrophe. It is a purely a controversial play, so why write a play knowing the danger you were putting yourself in? Arthur Miller wrote the play because he was accused of being a communist; Miller attended meetings between communist writers. He was fined and given a suspended prison sentence. When he wrote the play, he focused on a series of true events, which took place in and around the town of Salem. As Miller saw what was happening around him at the time, he realised that he himself could not take any direct action, or speak out against the act of McCarthyism because he could put himself in danger. He did, however, realise that he could make other Americans see how they were acting towards each other and how paranoia were the main cause to this widespread hysteria. Realising that he has to prevent this hysteria from developing further was to write a play, in hope that the audience would see what the hidden meaning and message he was trying to portray, instead of being 'just a play'. Many thi... ...s and McCarthyism have similar beginnings and similar results. Such hysteria came about because of the excessive suspicion that was planted in the people's minds, by Parris and McCarthy. Despite this, it was Parris and McCarthy who primarily rise the hysteria that occurred. Such hysteria may occur today, dealing with the issue on terrorism. Racial profiling and accusations may be prominent in our country once again! If the right events and the right people trigger such a scare, our country could be in a state of mass hysteria as it was two times already. Despite the age of The Crucible there are many issues included in it that are still very relevant in the modern world to day. Due to Millerââ¬â¢s clever plot and distinctive techniques, he was able to bring the history to life. This play turned out to be one of the most relevant plays of the past and of today.

Among other things three leave out of the equation all kinds of success in our lives, in our families lives and in our friendships life that money does not measure.Even their work choices reflect the sad mistake of forgoing what they love doing for what brings happiness. Do we really care about one-upmanship than material comforts? hardly. What the data tells us is that richer people are happier than poorer people. The reason is because richer think that they are more successful in life but it's success not money that we really crave Money can buy so many thing s except for happiness. Happiness is gained when u have fun in ur life with family and friends. That in my opinion I can do without money. Happiness is a feeling the things that make me happy are swimming playing having fun all money can do is make a person live a life in a hard way without fun. nowadays rich people spend most of their time counting money and u know time lost is never gained. Women Inequality In Society Essay - 1206 Words
Weak women; not framed by nature to contend with men Throughout the course of human history women have always been in the shadows of men, never equal, and always obedient. The roles and social status of women were inferior to those of their male counterparts. It wasnââ¬â¢t till the 1920ââ¬â¢s when women obtained the right to vote, and gained a voice throughout society. Fast-forward almost one hundred years, and today women are still facing inequalities such as unequal pay, the right to make choices for their own bodies, and bridging the gap in the workplace. Over the last couple of decades these inequalities sparked a new fierce womenââ¬â¢s movement. Women no longer have the fear to speak out on injustices they face in todayââ¬â¢s society. Ismene reiterates that women ââ¬Å"were not framed by nature to contend with men.â⬠(1237.) She is suggesting that women were never meant to disobey men, that somehow nature chose men to be superior to women. She uses the word ââ¬Å"stronger,â⬠in reference to Creon to depict that he is the strongest, and that is why he ruler of Thebes. Ismene ââ¬Å"pleadsâ⬠with her sister, to ââ¬Å"obeyâ⬠Creonââ¬â¢s orders. She believes they must obey the laws set forth by Creon, whether they like it or not. Lastly, she uses the word ââ¬Å"foolishness,â⬠to describe their actions if they were to disobey Creonââ¬â¢s orders and bury their brother despite Creonââ¬â¢s severe consequences; death. Antigone and Ismene are complete opposites, it seems as if the only common factor they share, is that they are sisters. While Ismene tried to convince Antigone to obey Creonââ¬â¢s orders, deep down Antigone knew she must follow her own conscience even if it resulted in her own death. In the following quote, you will visualize a strong willed woman who will follow the eternal laws of Heaven, despite the laws given by King Creon. The Exploration of the Orgasm Essay - 1300 Words
The role of the orgasm in heterosexual relationships is significant in having a satisfying malefemale relationship according to societyââ¬â¢s expectations. By using the malefemale binary, as well as exploring the social construction of sex, we can see just how significant the role the orgasm plays in heterosexual relationships. First off, we must understand that orgasms are achieved differently for both males and females. nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;Male orgasms are achieved through the male sex organ, being the penis. It has many nerve endings that are very sensitive. The female orgasm contains just as many of these nerve ending, but is a much smaller size. The penis is on average 5.5 inches, where the clitoris is about 1 inch. What isâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦What is pleasurable for the male is not always pleasurable for the female. nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;Another key factor is societyââ¬â¢s acceptance of masturbation for males, where it is seen to be deviant for females, since females are constructed as being the nurtures and therefore not promiscuous. Males feel comfortable in practising masturbation, thus knowing exactly what feels good for them and how to achieve this. Some females on the other hand find masturbation to be wrong or not lady like. Therefore, many women do not know how to achieve an orgasm. If a female is unable to bring herself to orgasm, it is very unlikely her partner will be able to as well, even if he knows how to bring other partners to climax. nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; The guest speaker that attended class on March 1st, Corey Silverberg, explained the importance of sex toys in exploring orgasm. These toys are designed specifically to bring females to climax, and many are designed to target the female clitoris. The integration of these toys into the act of sex with a male partner can help eradicate some of the obstacles involved in achieving an orgasm with a partner. Post-traumatic stress disorder is defined as being a mental health condition that is triggered by a terrifying event. There are some researchers that think that a person is more likely to develop PTSD than others when their risk of anxiety and depression increases, a personââ¬â¢s life experiences, a personââ¬â¢s temperament and/or the way the brain regulates the chemicals and hormones their body releases in response to stress. Computer Games â⬠Good or Bad Free Essays
Before we decide whether or not computer/video games are bad, there are many facts and opinions to consider. For example, many people feel that these games are too violent and that they cause an undervelopment in the frontal lobe. Others feel that games are helpful and educational. We will write a custom essay sample on Computer Games ââ¬â Good or Bad or any similar topic only for you Order Now There is also a health concern. According to Professor Ryuta Kawashima, ââ¬Å"The importance of this discovery cannot be underestimated. There is a problem we will have with a new generation of children ââ¬â who play computer games ââ¬â that we have never seen before. The implications are very serious for an increasingly violent society and these students will be doing more and more bad things if they are playing games and not doing other things like reading aloud or learning arithmetic. â⬠I do not agree with this statement fully, though I can understand that it does occur in some cases. I love playing computer and video games. When I was younger I used to play a James Bond game with my friends. We also played Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter. I used to love those games, and I remember making them ââ¬Å"turn off the bloodâ⬠because I ddinââ¬â¢t like that side to it. I still play video games, and though they may include shooting, fighting and other violence, you donââ¬â¢t see me beating up somebody because of a video game. I do know that there are some bad people in the world who have hurt someone because they were influenced by violent games. Another concern is the underdevelopment of the frontal lobe. As written by Tracy McVeigh, education editor, ââ¬Å"Whenever you use self control to refrain from lashing out or doing something you should not, the frontal lobe is hard at work. Children often do things they shouldnââ¬â¢t because their frontal lobes are underdeveloped. The more work done to theicken the fibres connecting the neurons in this part of the brain, the better the childââ¬â¢s ability will be to control their behaviour. The more the area is stimulated, the more these fibres will thicken. â⬠I think I agree with this statement, becasue I have seen the behaviour of the people around me, they seem out of control sometimes. They speak before they think, they fight constantly and are always in other peopleââ¬â¢s faces. One guy states ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢m not going to argue that violent entertainment is harmless. I think it has helped inspire some people to real-life violence. I am going to argue that itââ¬â¢s helped hundreds of people for every one itââ¬â¢s hurt, and that it can help far more if we learn to use it well. I am going to argue that our fear of ââ¬Ëyouth violenceââ¬â¢ isnââ¬â¢t well-founded on reality and that the fear can do more harm than the reality. We act as though our highest priority is to prevent our children fron growing up into murderous thugs ââ¬â but modern kids are far more likely to grow up too passive, too distrustful of themselves, too easily manipulatedâ⬠. I agree more with him than Professor Kawashima, because I donââ¬â¢t find that video games influence EVERYONE to be violent. I feel that they release anger by hurting fictional characters on a screen rathern than real-life people and animals. Professor Angela McFarlane says ââ¬Å"Adventure, quest and simulation type games have a lot of benefit ââ¬â theyââ¬â¢re quite complex and create a context in which children can develop important skillsâ⬠¦Weââ¬â¢re not advocating arcate, shot-the-baddie type gamesâ⬠¦Now thatââ¬â¢s interesting when the stereotype is that children play on the computer exclusively on their own. Teachers and parents then broke that down into skills of negotiation, planning, strategic thinking and decision-making. â⬠I feel that if television can teach us, so can video games. Video and computer games can cause health problems. In every instruction book for games there are warnings. Some people suffer from a condition called Photosensitive Epilepsy. As said by Professor Graham Harding, ââ¬Å"Photosensitive epilepsy is best defined as a tendency to recurrent convulsions, precipitated either by flashing lights or patterns. â⬠I have only ever had one fit in my life, when I was younger. I was diagnosed with occipital epilepsy. Iââ¬â¢ve always played video games and hadnââ¬â¢t had a problem. We got a PS2 (PlayStation 2) for Christmas last eyar, and while I was playing I felt dizzy. This occured with every game on PS2 except Buzz, though itââ¬â¢s a quiz game and doesnââ¬â¢t have all those flashy graphics. I can play on the Computer, my Nintendo DS and my GameCube without a problem, it seems to just be the PS2. I agree that video games can cause health problems, though if you do everything you need to (e. g. not playing a certain game, having a break etc. you should be alright. Computer games ââ¬â are they good or bad? In my opinion, I think that they are enjoyable, though they arenââ¬â¢t for some people. Those people who can be so cruel as to murder an innocent kitten or beat up a person due to these games are the reasons why there are doubts about computer and video games. Computer games are both good and bad. Good because they are enjoyable and ca n be educational, though bad because they cause some violence. Just remember, more people kill in the name of God than violent computer games. How to cite Computer Games ââ¬â Good or Bad, Papers

Review of the professional body (Australia) Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia: Here we are going to review the institute of chartered accountant Australia which is the professionalaccounting body for the representation of the chartered accountants of the Australia. There are around 61,000 members and 12,000 students who are attached to the institution (Parker et al.,2011). It is the one of the three main legally recognised Professional Accountancy bodies in Australia along with CPA Australia and Institute of Public Accountants. To be a member of this organization a person has to be a Chartered Accountant who has completed the Chartered Accountants Program which includes the Graduate Diploma in CharteredAccounting (GradDipCA).Members of this organization is mainly designated as CA after their name(CAANZ, 2017). However the individuals who have received the fellowship degree can use the designation FCA after their name. The affiliated member of the institute owns an accounting degree and at least 5 years of membership and these members have not completed the program of the chartered accountants. The members who have completed a Doctorate or Masters along with research in an accounting related field (which has to be a major subject) are designated as the Teacher of Accountancy and these members are eligible for a senior academic position for a not less than 5 years(Jackling and De Lange, 2009). The individuals who offer their service to the general public as 'Chartered Accountants' must hold the Certificate of Public Practice that is issued by this institution. The APESB [Accounting Professional Ethical Standards Board] Australia publishes ethics-related standards or says ethical code of conduct which must be followed by the chartered accountants of Australia. The Accounting Professional Ethical Standards Board Limited (APESB) issues 110 Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants (apesb.org.au, 2010). The fundamental principle of the code requires the fulfilment of the following requirements: A CA should not only satisfy the requirements of his clients but he should also work for the interest of the public A member of the organization should work with sufficient integrity which requires straight forward and honest application of his professional skills in the business relations The member has to work with Objectivity so that factors like bias, conflict of interest or undue influence will not be able to overpower his professional judgements An individual member of the institute should act with Professional competence and due care so that the client or the employer to ensure that a client or employer can get Competent Professional Services that are based on current developments in practice(Martinov-Bennie, and Mladenovic, 2015). The member of the institute should work with sufficient Confidentiality in order to protect that information that he has been derived by him as part of the business relationship. He should be cautious enough not to disclose the information any third party individual or organization(Davenport and Dellaportas, 2009) The member should maintain good professional behaviour and in order to do so they should comply with all the relevant rules and regulations and should avoid doing such actions that may fetch discredit to the profession. On identification of threats that is preventing an individual to comply with the fundamental principles then the individual has to decide whether the threats are within the acceptable level or not and what is the availability of the appropriate safe guards (OLeary and Stewart, 2013) The types of threats that may prevent an individual to comply with the fundamental principles are as follows: Self-interest threat that is preventing an individual to properly apply his professional judgement due to the financial or other interest of his own Self-review threat which prevents a person to comply with the requirement of the fundamental principles due to inappropriate evaluation of the past performances. Advocacy threat arises when the objectivity of an individual member is compromised while promoting the client or the employer Familiarity threat arise when the member fails the comply with the requirements of the fundamental principles while protecting the interest of the client who is familiar to the professional and having close relation with him. Intimidation threat arises when the person fails to comply with the requirements of the fundamental principles due to undue pressure of doing something that is completely unethical (apesb.org.au, 2010). An individual can look for the following safe guards for protecting himself from the above mentioned threats and to maintain the professional ethics Professional legislations and regulations Work place regulations and corporate governance Reflective analysis: From the above discussion I can realize that ethics and codes of practice are those regulations that must be followed by a professional person to maintain honesty and transparency in his profession. If I stay honest and transparent in my profession then I will be easily able to gain the trust of the people with whom I am working .It is essential to follow the ethical code as well as the policy procedures of the workplace where I am working. Thus if I comply with the policy rules and regulations of the workplace then I will be able to prove myself as a responsible employee who is well capable of discharging his duties responsibilities on time. Besides the proper following and understanding of the professional ethics and policy procedures of the company will help me to develop the most effective way of communication at the workplace and this will automatically help me to manage an minimize the workplace related conflicts. The proper knowledge of the ethical code of conduct will help m e to fulfil the work objectivity at the workplace. Or in other words the proper knowledge of the professional code of conduct will help me to stay alert and to identify presence of any kind of undue influence that can affect my professional judgements. The knowledge of the professional code of conduct will help to me understand the quality and competence that I am ought to deliver through my work to my clients as well as employers. As an accounting professional I am supposed to handle lot of confidential information at the workplace as well as of the personal clients. The study of professional code of conduct has helped me to learn that I should be extremely responsible in maintaining the confidentiality of the data sources I am handling for the professional purpose. Thus as a whole it can be said that proper understanding of the professional ethical code of conduct and workplace policy procedures will help me properly shape my future professional behaviour. On consideration of the case study of the Chartered accountant who is operating as a finance manager in Worley Parsons, I can see that being a chartered accountant and member of Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia the person is liable to follow the APESB [Accounting Professional Ethical Standards Board] code of conduct and also the policy procedures regulations of Worley Parsons. There are similarities between the APESB codes of conduct policy procedures regulations of Worley Parsons with respect to the factors such as attaining work integrity, work Objectivity, application of Professional competence and care and maintenance of information confidentiality. From the study of the code of conducts of the organization I can see that the different responsibilities that are expected to be fulfilled by the employees of the organization, such as striving to achieve the highest ethical conduct, questioning of the unethical behaviour, complying with law, avoidance of conflict of interest, handling of the business deals with ethical fairness honesty, holding open accurate and professional communication at the workplace all that leads to the accomplishment of the ethics related standard that are published by APESB, that must be followed by the practicing chartered accountants of Australia. In addition to that the company Worley Parsons also offers a good working envir onment that offers fair and open competition, where employees are not discriminated and diversity creativity is honoured. From the study of the work environment I can realize that the company is offering such a work environment to develop good work culture within the organization which is supportive to the effort of the employee who is earnestly trying to follow the ethical code of conducts of the company. The company has a strict policy guideline with respect to the maintenance confidentiality of the data resources or inside information of the company. Trading of inside information of the company will be considered as criminal offence by the company. Thus from the above discussion I can understand that both the professional body and the individual working in a profession are devoting to the codes of ethics with same priority to create an environment where employees can work with the required professional ethics and can fight against any kind of corruption or breach of ethical codes . In my belief such an initiative will help to establish good trust among the people regarding the profession as well as the organization in which the professional are working. But there are some barriers to the fullest application of the code. Unlike the APESB codes of conduct the policy procedures regulations of Worley Parsons doest have any well defined framework to identify the different threats [Self-interest threat, Self-review threat, Advocacy threat and some others] that may be possibly present within the accounting field of the business. The business should develop a strong infrastructure to identify those threats so that effective measures can be designed to minimize the impact of such threat. In my opinion such an initiative will minimize the barriers and the employees will be easily able to comply with the codes at the fullest extent. Conclusion: The discussion of the above assignment focuses on the importance of following the professional code of conduct as well as workplace code of conduct in shaping the career of an individual professional(Clements et.al.,2009). In this assignment the profession of CA[chartered accountant] has been chosen where the CA is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and is abide by the professional code of conduct published by APESB [Accounting Professional Ethical Standards Board. On the other hand the professional is working as a finance manager in a company in Australia, Perth and as an employee of the company he is also expected to follow the specific code of conduct set by the company. The discussion also reveals that both the professional body and the individual working in a profession are devoting to the codes of ethics with same priority to build an honest and corruption free working environment (Lawson et. al.,2013). From this assignment I have learned that followi ng the ethical code of conducts will help me to give a good shape to my carrier as an accounting professional and it will also add trust reputation to the profession.
